The short version...
The phrase “ShapShap” can be heard all over Southern and Eastern Africa and has two different meanings. In Southern Africa it’s a slang term meaning “good- good” and is the answer to the question: How are you doing? (howzit going?)- ShapShap! In Swahili (a language spoken throughout Eastern Africa) it means “quick- quick”- although nothing in Africa ever happens quickly!
ShapShap was founded by Japie van Deventer and Lizza Duijverman. Japie is a born and raised South African. He graduated with a degree in psychology and tourism in 1998 and has since then worked, lived and travelled around the world. Lizza is a Dutchy with a law degree and a degree in environmental law. She has travelled extensivly throughout the world and it was on one of their many adventures when they met, put their heads together and decided to put all their efforts into creating their own travel company and ShapShap was born.
They share a passion for travel and adventure, nature and wildlife conservation and love exploring and discovering new cultures and customs as they continue to trot the globe.
