Below you will find a brief description of an example 21 day South African Fly Drive. You could of course split this fly drive up in sections if you have less time available... we will customize a Fly Drive to fit your needs.
This itinerary includes most of the highlights of South Africa. Once a booking or reservation is made, we will supply an information pack with a detailed itinerary, hotel information, an optional activities list and a detailed route description. This fly drive is also great for families with children.

Day 1 Johannesburg, South Africa
On arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your B+B for your first night in South Africa. You will have time to freshen up and relax after your flight, and depending on your time of arrival, you might want to visit Soweto on an organized township tour.
Day 2, 3 Blyde River Canyon/ Panorama Route
You leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind as you make your way to the Mpumalanga Province. It's a long but scenic drive to your next destination- the Blyde River Canyon. The days is filled with history, culture and nature landscapes at its best. After exploring Pilgrim's Rest, you start your drive over the mountains and drive along the famous Panorama Route and visit some of the highlights of the Blyde River Canyon- God's Window, Burk's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels.
Day 4, 5, 6 Timbavati/ Kruger National Park
Your drive along the Blyde River Canyon continues up the mountains and through the J. G. Strydom Tunnel. Spectacular views await on the other side of the tunnel as you see the Lowfeld stretched out as far as the eye can see. A guided walk around the local village of the Shangaan tribe can be arranged at your lodge in the afternoon.
Surely one of the highlights of your holiday- The Kruger National Park is said to have the biggest variety of wild animals of any park in Africa! You have at least 3 days to drive around and explore this massive park and try to spot as many different animals as you can. The Kruger is amongst others also home to the "big 5"- lion, leopard. elephant, buffalo and rhino. You can also arrange a game walk with the local professional rangers...
Day 7, 8 Swaziland
Swaziland is a beautiful little Kingdom bordered by South Africa and Mozambique. You will stay in the Mlilwane Wildlife Reserve where you can enjoy hikes in the park and even join in the traditional dances around the fire at night. They have a wide variety of animals in the park which can also be seen on horseback or mountain bike. A visit to the local craft market and candle factory should not be missed, and to make Swaziland unforgettable your accommodation will be traditional "beehive" huts.
Day 9 St. Lucia, South Africa
The most prominent future of St. Lucia is its laid-back atmosphere and integration with wild life. The town's development is restricted to below the tree canopy and hippo's, bush buck, red duiker and monkeys roam the streets freely. Hundreds of bird species can also be observed throughout the town. The St. Lucia Estuary and Wetlands Park is a World Heritage Site. A boat cruise is a great way to learn more about the area and to see the hippo's and crocodiles in their natural habitat.
Day 10 Ballito Bay
Ballito lies in the heart of the Dolphin Coast. Ballito is known as the 'Pearl' of the Dolphin Coast and is flanked to the east by golden beaches and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Ballito's friendly, village atmosphere is a welcome haven from the fast pace of the big city life, yet it offers all the modern amenities and services to residents and holiday-makers alike.
Day 11, 12, 13 Mossel Bay/ Garden Route
The Garden Route is a popular and scenic stretch of the southern coast of South Africa. The name comes from the shrubbery near the coast. The Route is sandwiched between the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma mountains and the Indian Ocean. The Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma indigenous forests are a unique mixture of Cape Fynbos and temperate forest and offer hiking trails and eco-tourism activities. Nearly 300 species of birdlife are to be found in a variety of habitats ranging from fynbos to forest to wetlands.
Ten nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life. Various bays along the Garden Route are nurseries to the endangered Southern Right Whale which come there to calve in the winter and spring (July to December).
Day 14 Oudtshoorn
Situated in the Klein Karoo with around 300 days of sunshine per year lies the ostrich capital of the world- Oudtshoorn. Take time to visit the Cango Caves, visit one of the local Ostrich farms on a guided tour and even ride and ostrich! Stop at some of the waterfalls in the area and play with little white Bengal tigers or get up close and personal with a cheetah at the Cango wildlife sanctuary. And for those who dare- crocodile cage diving!
Day 15, 16 Hermanus
With its unparalleled scenic beauty, modern infrastructure, up market shops and endless adventure options, it's little wonder that Hermanus has grown in size and popularity during the last decade. Hermanus has the status of being the best land-based whale watching destination in the world. Southern right whales visit Walker Bay from June through to December and can be viewed from aboard a boat, an airplane or the shore.
Shark cage diving provides an adrenaline fix for adventure lovers and kayaking trips on the sea or lagoon can be booked. Fernkloof Nature Reserve offers a range of spectacular walks among the fynbos. Whether you choose to spend a day on one of the spectacular beaches or playing a round of golf, Hermanus has something for everyone. Many of the shops and amenities are also wheelchair friendly.
Day 17, 18 Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch offers some of the most prestigious and oldest Wine Regions in the world. The wine lands of Stellenbosch are internationally known for their excellent quality export wines and the sheer beauty of the surroundings. Tourists are mesmerized by breathtaking mountain passes and warm South African hospitality. Stellenbosch is the oldest town in South Africa next to Cape Town. The town is packed with many historic buildings dating back to the early 1700's. Wine tasting tours are very popular and it's a great way to see some of the wine estates...
Day 19, 20 Cape Town
Warmed by the African sun, the city is dominated by a towering, table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys. Immense natural beauty, and the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban centre mix effortlessly here. Firmly positioned on the international map, Cape Town offers a myriad things to do and places to see, whatever your tastes, inclinations or budget.
Not to miss in and around Cape Town: Cape Point, the beach at Camp's bay, Table Mountain, the penguin colony at Boulder's Beach, the V&A Waterfront, Robben Island and the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens... to name but a few.
