Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. There will be time to rest and take in this vibrant city's energy, before a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepalese Restaurant. (D)

Day 02. Kathmandu sightseeing tour
We start the guided tour with a visit to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites- Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhu and Boudhanath. These sites are home to the palaces of medieval kings who ruled over the old Kathmandu Kingdom, and a sacred lingum- the phallic symbol of the lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus and here it is also possible to view cremations… not to everyones taste- but it is an option. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimages and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for the more than 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu, also known as the “Monkey Temple”, offers some great views of the Kathmandu valley. This is a day packed with impressions and sites with difficult to pronounce names, but it will all make sense when you walk around these fascinating world heritage sites with your guide. Overnight in Kathmandu (B)

Day 03. Sightseeing Tour: Patan & Bhaktapur
We start our tour with two more UNESCO World Heritage Site cities- Patan & Bhaktapur. Patan is also known as the city of fine arts. The Patan Durbar Square is one of the places in the Kathmandu Valley where medieval arts and architecture can still be seen in its original state. The Durbar Square is full of ancient sites, temples and shrines, noted for their exquisite carvings- especially on the Hindu and Buddhist monuments. Similarly, the medieval town of Bhaktapur, or the town of the devotees, has preserved some medieval arts, architecture, culture, and lifestyle and you will feel a sense of taking a step back in time when you walk around the thoroughfares, squares and streets. Overnight at Kathmandu. (B)

Day 04. Drive to Chitwan
After an early breakfast we head out to Chitwan. It is a scenic drive over the mountains and it takes about 5 hours to cover the 150km. All the way we will descend alongside the winding road on the banks of the Trishuli River. After checking in to the hotel and getting refreshed you will be briefed about the full nature programs by our nature guide.  There will be a guided village walk and a walk on the banks of the Rapti River to watch the sunset over the sub-tropical jungle. During dinner there will be a cultural program performed by ethnic people with their stick dance and tribal drums. Overnight in Chitwan. (B, L, D)

Day 05. Full Day at Chitwan National Park including Jungle Safari
The Chitwan National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The National Park has a wide variety of animals such as water buffalo, egrets, woodpeckers and deer. The Park is also home to rhinoceros, tigers, leopards, sloth bears, wild bison, gangetic dolphin, 500 species of birds, butterflies, as well as the near extinct Gharials crocodiles. You can do a number of activities here - an elephant safari, a nature walk, bird watching, a jungle drive or a canoe trip. You can even play in the river and wash an elephant! Make sure you have your camera or video camera ready for this once in a lifetime experience. Overnight in Chitwan. (B, L, D)

Day 06. Drive to Pokhara & Pokhara Sightseeing
After some bird watching or a jungle safari in the morning, we drive to Pokhara - about 140 kilometers from Chitwan and a 5-6 hour drive. From Mugling, we drive further west into the mountains, following the rivers for much of the day. Pokhara, also nicknamed  the Lake City, is seen by many as one of the most beautiful places on earth. The town offers magnificent views of the mountains- Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare and five peaks of Annapurna. Pokhara is also the gateway to trekking in the Annapurna Region. After arriving in Pokhara we go out for some sightseeing around some of Pokhara's marketplaces, old bazaars and landmarks. In the evening you will have time to explore the surrounding lakeside areas. Overnight in Pokhara. (B)

Day 07. Explore Pokhara
We have a full day to explore Pokhara. Early in morning we will take a drive up to Sarangkot Hill to see the the sunrise over the Himalayas. After breakfast we will start a full day sightseeing in Pokhara. While walking along the banks of Phewa Lake you could see the stunning reflection of the Fish Tail Peak in the blue Phewa Lake waters. We will also take a boat around Phewa Lake- the second biggest lake of Nepal. The boat takes us across the lake for a walk to the World Peace Pagoda. There should also be some time for a quick stop at the Gupteshwar Gufa Cave (also called Shiva Gufa). Some of the other places that we visit today include the Seti River Gorge, Devi's Fall and the mountain museum. Overnight inPokhara. (B)

Day 08. Drive to Kathmandu
After breakfast we start the 200 kilometers drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. You can spend the afternoon leisurely, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping and in the evening we have our farewell dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu. (B, D)

Day 09. Tour ends/ next adventure/ departure
Today the journey comes to an end. If you are flying back home, you will be transferred back to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight back home or you can start your next adventure… maybe even a trip to Tibet! (B)
