Overland Truck, Safari Camping Tent, Types of Accommodation

Overland truck- example
Big and strong! These overland trucks are designed to take on whatever Africa can throw at them. They can comfortably seat up to 22 passengers (18 or less on accommodated tours); they are high off the ground with big windows that can slide open all the way- which makes them perfect for Safari and enjoying some of Africa's most spectacular landscapes. They carry all the tents, sleeping mats, pots and pans and all the luggage and lots of fresh water... one of the best ways to travel around Africa!

Tents used during camping tours- example
We provide two man dome tents during our Africa camping tours. They have built in mosquito nets and will keep any bugs out; they are waterproof (we also have extra cover sheets just in case...); they are super easy to put up and break down- they will feel like home after a couple of days under the African skies!

On all tours the meals are fairly informal and prepared by the guide at the truck (unless otherwise specified)

Accommodated tours- example
The style of accommodation on our accommodated tours is more varied than on the camping departures - we make use of budget hotels, hostels, chalets, bungalows, traditional huts and sometimes safari-tents!

In Southern Africa all the accommodation used has bedding and towels provided. All accommodation is 2 per room, but not all accommodation is en-suite. Some accommodation has shared bathroom facilities, ie: in the National Parks where some bungalows have two bedrooms that share one bathroom.

In East Africa the accommodation is less reliable and should be treated as a small upgrade from camping. Single supplements are difficult to provide. As bedding is not always provided you need to bring a towel and sleeping bag on these tours. An upgrade to twin accommodation in East Africa is cheap and usually fairly easy to arrange with the lodge on arrival, depending on availability.

On all tours the meals are fairly informal and prepared by the guide at the truck (unless otherwise specified)
