Distance day 1: approx. 70 km; driving time approx. 1 hour
Upon your arrival at the airport in George you will collect your rental car and drive to the charming town of Knysna, which is famous for its wood industry and oyster farming.
The rest of the day and the next day are at leisure. You can drive up to the viewpoint on Knysna Heads, go for a boat trip on the lagoon, go swimming or go for a hike or cycle tour through the forest.
A visit to the famous Tsitsikamma National Park is also an option during your stay in Knysna. The park is a great destination for birdwatchers and lovers of dramatic coastlines. Put on your walking shoes and go for a little hike! You stay two nights in Knysna
Breakfast
Day 3 | Knysna – Cape Agulhas – Arniston
Distance approx. 420 km; driving time approx. 5 hours
Today you travel in westerly direction through George and Mossel Bay. Maybe stop in Swellendam for lunch before you continue to the most southerly point of South Africa, the Cape Agulhas. Take a stroll along the coast, visit the light house and take a picture at the plaque.
Afterwards you continue to the nearby town of Arniston, where you can relax and spend the night.
Breakfast
Day 4 | Arniston – De Kelders
Distance approx. 100 km; driving time approx. 1-2 hours
After a long drive yesterday, a rather short trip takes you to the little village of De Kelders, on the Walker Bay coast. Between the months of June and November, the southern right whales come to breed here. Take a walk along the coast or simply sit on the terrace and look out for whales as they surface for air. You can also book a boat cruise to have a chance to spot the whales up close. Outside of whale season, the area offers wonderful walks along the rugged coastline or into the nearby forests. For those seeking peace and quiet, this is a perfect getaway.
Breakfast
Day 5 – 6 | De Kelders – Cape Town
Distance day 5: approx. 180 km; driving time approx. 2-3 hours
After breakfast, you travel along the False Bay to the mother city, Cape Town. Situated between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Venture out and explore the town, hike up Table Mountain and Lion’s Head, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, stretch out on Blouberg or Camps Bay beach, explore Simons Town, take the ferry to Robben Island or go shopping at the V&A Waterfront. You stay two nights in Cape Town
Breakfast
Day 7 | Cape Town – Cape Town Airport
